This is ME: January

My friend Amy is encouraging her readers to step out from behind the camera and stand, proudly, in front of it. I totally agree with her. Of the 1,000's of pictures that will someday tell my life story, only a small percentage actually feature me.

It's okay by me. I suffered a recent Sarah-in-a-portrait trauma when I opened up my in-laws Christmas card, sent out to the masses in technicolor, that featured a self-described "terrible" picture of me. Good thing my boys are cute, serving as a distraction from their "distracting" mother.

So in an attempt to get real and well, get over myself, I gave the camera to my husband and let him give it a go, taking a picture of me for my Firmoo review in these ridiculously over sized glasses. Not bad, husband, not bad. At first glance, I bet you only saw me.  But let me share what I saw:

1) The pantry door is open.
2) Embarrassingly over sized glasses.
3) No double chin!
4) Embarrassingly over sized glasses.
5) ME.

This is a very real shot of me.  If you could hear the sounds of Pandora's 90's Pop Hits Station in the background, it would be even closer.  And that's my king sized green monster blanket. It's great for cuddling and reading with my kids.

In the evening, you will find me, and oftentimes my husband, wrapped up in it on the couch after we've exhausted our energy wrangling three boys into bed.  Because at night, in the upper Midwest, you need protection from the cold in the form of green monster blankets to avoid freezing to the floor.

Or each other, which truthfully, might not be so bad.

  1. Sarah, honestly, I LOVE this picture of you. Where as you look at this picture and see flaws, I see a beautiful picture. This has a Woody Allen vibe to me. It seems very Annie Hall. You look pensive and beautiful. I am so proud of you for stepping in front of the camera. You never know what this picture might mean to someone. I hope you are snuggled under your blanket and ready to enjoy your weekend.

    1. One of the first things I thought when I had my third boy was the food they would all eat as teenagers! I have five brothers (and no sisters) and I know my Mom had to work just to feed us all!

  5. That window looks cold!!! I love the picture of you snuggling with your kids. My daughter is 15 so we don't snuggle together when we read anymore. She did climb in bed with me last night and hadn't done that in eons. Then she told me, this am, mom you are snoring. I told her ..this is my bed..go back to yours. lol Thanks for the comment on my blog.

    1. Katharine - I have one snuggler - the rest snuggle only on their will! But I'll take ANY snuggling by them whenever I can as it does vanish with age. Nice to meet you :)

    1. Oh Erin, you are so sweet! Must be the side angle. The front shots my husband got had us both rolling on the floor laughing!
