{Favorite} Farmers Market Meal

Happy Friday everyone! Did you know it's National Farmers Market Week?

Here in the Midwest, we have a limited farm stand season, but we have one close by that I just love! They keep gorgeous, inexpensive, and non-GMO fruits, vegetables, and meat close by from July to September.

One of our FAVORITE places to go in the summer is the farmers market in the "big city" on Saturday mornings. {That's the reference we use when we tell our kids we are leaving the burbs for the skyscrapers.}

You would think we would head to this particular market for local food and plants, right? WRONG. We go straight to the brat stand where the peppy gentlemen are cranking out juicy bratwurst topped with raw slices of onion and peppers, where your sense of smell is in heavenly overdrive.  Perfected only after you've given it a squirt of ketchup from the mammoth dispenser, ignoring the slime and grime that it's sporting from it's numerous sweaty operators. Nothing a little sanitizer can't handle, right?

But that's not all folks...right beside it is a little glimmer of sunshine. Local corn grilled right in the husk. And once the husk is peeled back, the corn takes a dunk in a vat of butter,is given a hefty shake of salt & pepper , and then it is handed off to you. Together these farmers market delicacies are recreated at our home on a regular basis in the summer. Wanna see why?

Stop by your farm stand, pick up some locally made bratwurst; some corn, peppers, and onions and make this simple dinner. Enjoy the bounty and fresh flavors that summertime farm stands bring!
