{niece inspired} Rosette & Tulle Hair Clips

Yesterday I got to meet my new little niece baby G! Even better? I got to see my little brother as a father! He's an identical twin {and so is his wife...cool, right?!} and it feels like just yesterday that I was peeking over the ledge into the nursery to see them! There are pictures of me and my three brothers at the hospital meeting them, and now I'm taking pictures of his little daughter and beautiful wife :)

About a month ago, I got to spend some extra time with my oldest niece. While her brother and my boys were busy doing boy things, she and I got to do some very girly things! Lucky for her, I outgrew most of my tomboyish tendencies. We bought some nail polish to spiff up our nails {see me...rocking the semi-pimp style gold} and clips to make something cute for her hair!

To make the fabric rosettes, I used one of the very first tutorials I pinned and tried when I was introduced to Pinterest way back when. It's by Little Birdie Secrets and you can find it here. The tulle is actually from a baby shower swag bag from my New Mommy S.I.L.'s baby shower! I thought it may come in handy someday and right I was!

I used: scrap fabric, hot glue, leftover rhinestones, tulle, & hair clips.

One change from the rosette tutorial: I used the hot glue gun to secure the fabric as I made the rosette instead of fabric glue. Then I cut a fabric circle slightly smaller than the rosette and glued a piece of gathered tulle to it.  Next, I glued the end of the clip in between the rosette and the tulle/fabric circle. To dress it up a bit, I hot glued a rhinestone leftover from another project to the center of the rosette.

I'm not sure you'll find as lovely of a model as I did, but you can sure try. I just wish I had my niece's super shiny stick straight brown hair with natural sun-kissed highlights! She definitely did not get that from my bloodline! And I just love the blue against her hair tone.
