There are A LOT of Valentines posts out there and none of them are mine. So sad, right?
Why? I really can't fake it. We make valentines for the classroom. My kids wake up to valentines from the hubs and I. But that's about it. The hubs and I have never really celebrated Valentines Day and I've grown accustomed to it. Is that wrong??? Am I the only one? Would I be happy if I woke up to flowers, of course! But I'm not counting on it ;) He's plenty sweet the rest of the time and that's enough for me.
This year, we decided to make our own Valentines instead of buying them. They are not special or spectacular or worthy of their own post, but we had a great time making them together! I think the little, simple cards are so cute! We will punch holes and thread a Valentines pencil through them - easy right?
Last week, my dear friends and I hosted a Valentines party for our kids classroom. It was a lot of fun for us and super fun for them. {By the way...1st graders have a TON of energy!} It's was great way to meet all the kids in the classroom and their parents. Back at home, after all that Valentine work, we were hungry. The kids at the party decorated graham crackers with frosting and sprinkles, but I wanted to make little sandwiches like my mom used to make for us {sans the sprinkles}.
It's so easy, no instructions required. Just take a look at this:
Which turns into this:
I set a bad example and ate three in a row. These three in fact. My mom used to make them in the morning and then stick them in the fridge and bust them out after school. They are great room temperature, but better when chilled. Try them out today! Chances are you already have all the ingredients you need :)
Speaking of chances...did you get a chance to stop by my guest blogger yesterday? If not, check out her post here or her site The Domestic Rebel sometime soon!

Aww these bring back some great memories for me. My neighbor (who was like the neighborhood grandma) use to make these for me all the time.
ReplyDeleteI would sit on her front porch and talk to her while stuffing these wonderful treats in my mouth.

They look delicious! I am not a huge celebrator of Valentine's either. Although I have been using it as an excuse to bake up a lot!!
